PECHA KUCHA
Date: Wednesday 8 November 2006
Location:The Print Works, Manchester
Pecha Kucha, the fast and furious Japanese import that has taken London by storm since its introduction to the capital last summer, is coming to Manchester.
The format is simple - each speaker must present 20 images which
are projected on screen for only 20 seconds each, amounting
to a total time onstage of 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
The twelve speakers are encouraged to edit their ideas, inspirations,
frustrations, and aspirations into this rapid-fire time slot, forcing
them to articulate their message succinctly. There is no specific
brief, which gives rise to a varied, eclectic and sometimes hysterical
montage of images and storytelling.
Conceived by Klein Dytham architecture in Tokyo, the format
has spread across the world and intrigued and excited audiences
of designers, architects, trend experts, journalists, and design
junkies from the outset.
