In 1962, a group of designers and advertising art directors working in London joined forces to create a new organisation, (D&AD) British Design & Art Direction. Their aim was to raise the profile of creative communication. Since then, D&AD has grown in influence and its annual awards scheme would become an international barometer of changing trends. The exhibition illustrated Award-winning work from D&AD 1963-2002, rewinding across four decades to chart developments in design and advertising through a wide range of disciplines. Rewind not only demonstrated how radically Britain's communication industry had changed in those 40 years from small, tight-knit community to a global brand-driving business.

Rewind was curated by Jeremy Myerson and Michael Johnson.
It also showed how the design and advertising community became an integral part of the fabric of the world economy - and a vivid cultural reflection of the times in which we lived. The exhibition was supported by the following patrons of D&AD's 40th anniversary
